Bologneses are small dogs with a stocky, compact body covered with long and fluffy, pure white hair. These very serious dogs are generally not very active, but enterprising all the same, docile and very attached to their human companions.

The origins of the Bolognese are confused with those of the Maltese, because their ancestors are the same small dogs described by Aristotle (384-322 BC) as Melitaei Catelli. These very endearing dogs, which wear such a serious expression when they look at you, are known for their intelligence, their observant nature and their calm disposition, which they radiate to everyone around them.

Did you know ?

After receiving two small dogs from a Duke of the House of Este, Philip II, King of Spain from 1556 to 1598 wrote him to thank him for the “most royal gift one could give an emperor”.
