Some 189 scent hounds were shown at the first Swedish dog show in 1886. They included a brother and sister named Tamburini and Ralla I, who belonged to a farmer by the name of Per Schiller. These dogs were descended from the renowned hunting hounds that most likely came from southern Germany. They were rather small, fawn colored with black mantle and light white markings. Schiller Hounds were also descended from Swiss hounds, with considerable British blood, especially from Harriers. The breed was recognized by the Swedish Kennel Club in 1907.
