Swedish Lapphunds have been around for centuries in the far north of the Nordic region. These Spitz-type dogs, just below medium size, with proud head carriage and weather-resistant coat, were used by the local Sami populations to herd reindeer. Nowadays, most Swedish Lapphunds are companion dogs.

Did you know ?

The type was originally bred by the Sami, who needed solid, brave dogs to protect and herd reindeer and this became the Swedish Lapphund’s primary chore.
